NEWS: Help needed

Dear AVC Family:

On Saturday, April 17, my step-brother, Christopher Gaither was murdered in South Central Los Angeles. His ex-wife had taken an insurance policy out on him for $10,000.00 and just recently increased the policy by $190,000.00 for a total of $200,000.00 to be paid upon his death. We have tried to make burial arrangements at several different mortuaries and have been unsuccessful due to the sudden change in the policy. They are investigating this change for a number of reasons 1) it was a homicide, 2) the policy was just recently changed before his murder. Therefore, the mortuaries are not willing to honor the policy.

I am reaching out to my AVC family for assistance. We would like for the funeral services to take place on Wednesday, April 28 because he has been in the morgue for over eight days, not to mention, the family would like closure. Any donation you can make would bring us one step closer to having such closure.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate contacting me at 661.236.7765. Flowers, cards, etc. can be sent to The Gaither Family 126 West 62nd Street, Los Angeles CA 90003 or you may bring them to the VAPA division office (include AVC Family on your card or memo area of your check so that we can know to whom we can thank for your generosity. Please make all checks payable to Reginald Gaither.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Shrawnda Harris, Administrative Assitant
