You may think it’s impossible to get a decent meal with a drink for under $10 in the Antelope Valley. Then again, you may have never been to Soya.
Soya Teriyaki Grill in Palmdale is the place to go for affordable sushi, teriyaki bowls and plates and deluxe combos.
Located on 6th Street East and Palmdale Blvd., Soya is delicious and affordable.
The cheapest deals at Soya are the chicken bowl, which comes with chicken and rice smothered in teriyaki sauce and the 8-piece California roll meal. Both are only $3.
The best deals when considering portion size compared to cost are any of the plates. They are all around $6 and come with your choice of meat, one side, rice and a free canned beverage.
The deluxe combos come with your choice of meat, two sides, rice, soup and a drink.
All of the entrees on the menu are smothered with a very generous serving of teriyaki sauce.
While Soya has a lot of positive aspects to it, there are a few things that I don’t like about it.
First and foremost, there is a language barrier with the cashiers. At times, they are extremely hard to understand, which can be worsened by the fact that people can call in orders for pick up.
Another issue I experienced was that the steamed vegetables were cold. The rest of the food was piping hot, so it was very noticeable.
If you order extra rice as your side, you do not receive any. I have gone to Soya a few times recently and ordered different sides. I noticed that the time I ordered my meal with rice as a side, it did not have any more rice than usual.
However, even with these issues, I would still say that Soya Teriyaki Grill is a great place to eat if you are on a budget and looking to get a generous portion of food.
