On Oct. 17 the Planning Commission Meeting was held at Lancaster’s City Hall Council chambers. Applicant Tully Huffaker requested, “A Conditional Use Permit to allow a concert venue/nightclub with on-sale consumption of alcoholic beverages (Alcoholic Beverage Control Type 42, on-sale beer and wine – public premises), and a request for waiver under Section 17.42.040.C of the Lancaster Municipal Code to allow the sale of beer and wine within 300 feet of a religious assembly area, in the LI (Light Industrial) Zone.”

New Life Community Church on Oct. 19 released a statement on their Facebook page saying, “If Industry Theatre was planning to provide a music venue without the sale and consumption of alcohol, NEW LIFE Community Church would not be opposed to their location within 300 feet of our sanctuary.”

Juan Roberts commented On New Life Community Church AV’s Facebook page, “NEW LIFE has a great number of young people under 18, and they are precious to us,” said Roberts, “We are concerned that some […] the lifestyle behaviors that go with the club environment could expose their tender hearts to things they are not ready to deal with in life.”

"As believer in Christ going on 22 years and a concert promoter for nearly as long, this venue is a much needed addition to the community. I have had the privilege over the years to have brought more than 100 Christian bands to the AV,” said David Priest on New Life Community Church AV’s Facebook page, “The most difficult part in doing so has been securing a proper venue. I have been praying for a place like the Industry Theatre for many years as it opens the door for ministry opportunity's that have been unknown to this valley thus far.”

The next Planning Commission Meeting will be on Nov. 21. At this time the result of the meeting is still pending. This will be updated when the information is available.
