ASO President Terrence Myers will be hosting a workshop tomorrow in the student lounge from 2 to 4 p.m.
The workshop is about “effective ways to run a meeting,” which is inspired by the court case Brown vs. The Board of Education.
Myers is looking to have the meeting begin with a questionnaire “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” style, where he will be asking fun questions to the students that attend.
The second part of the meeting will discuss ways to run a meeting. For example, when it is appropriate to excuse yourself to use the restroom and how to pitch certain ideas.
In the third part of the meeting Myers will give a chance for students to bring up concerns and suggestions that they have on campus. He will also bring up an initiative that ASO came up with to provide health care on campus.
ASO is looking to provide health care on campus for a small fee. Currently, there is a bus that comes every Thursday to provide check-ups. “If we had health care on campus, then students can be seen every day of the week as opposed to just one day,” says Myers.
Myers is looking at the fee to be around $15 which would be paid when students pay for their clases. The fee will have to be renewed every semester, but if you want to opt out of receiving health care, then Myers is looking for an easy way to make that happen as well.
He also sees the health care on campus as something that can be potentially tied into the nursing program.
Students attending are encouraged to pitch their ideas and concerns that they have on campus, and also to learn more about the initiative to provide health care on campus, whether you are opposed to it or for it. “It’s all about student needs,” says Myers, “Whatever they say in the workshop can either sway the initiative or justify it.”
