I’m sorry, did I catch you off guard? Well, I shouldn’t have because that’s what Halloween is actually all about. Halloween was once known as Samhain, a Celtic festival devoted to paying respect to the dear and departed. The only time of the year when the veil between the world of the dead and the world of the living is at its thinnest.
Now, it has become a celebration of candy, jack-o-lantern’s, scary movies, and costumes of all types (and lengths). We kind of strayed from the Celts, but hey, no complaints here. I’m in love with it all.
A word of advice though: before you put on your kitty cat costume or your Leatherface mask, bust out a little offering for your ghostly ancestors. Who knows, they might just reply back. What’s Halloween without a good haunting? A Ouija board optional, but favored.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
