FEATURES: "Style" by Lauren Conrad offers universal fashion tips

By Maria Cortes

Fashion designer Lauren Conrad has answered the prayers of teenage girls everywhere and published a book called “Style,” which provides universal fashion advice and tips for girls of all ages. The book ranges from how to dress for dates to job interviews, girls’ nights and to how to properly apply makeup to different skin types. This book covers all its bases.

As the head designer of three different clothing lines LC, The Lauren Conrad Collection and Paper Crown, this is Conrad’s area of expertise and she provides nothing but the best advice in her book.

"Style" is divided into three different sections: Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle. Each section, and its chapters, is formulated to help you create your own unique look and show off your confidence and beauty.

Fashion is completely devoted to helping you find your style niche. The chapters include “Building your Wardrobe,” which helps you boil down the basics of your style. “Basics - or what I like to call ‘key pieces’ - are the foundation around which you’ll build your wardrobe; you should fall in love with them as hard as you might fall for a wear-it-once gown,” Conrad wrote.

It also helps you find the right jeans for your body and tells how to find that perfect plain white t-shirt that every girl should own.

Other chapters in Fashion show you how to properly accessorize, find the right places to shop and how to wear your clothes instead of letting your clothes wear you. Conrad also assists you in finding the right shoes, purses and how to mix and match to create fresh new looks every time.

The section entitled Beauty is divided into two chapters: Makeup and Hair. The makeup portion provides an in-depth guide on how to properly apply all types of makeup from liquid concealer to lipstick and eyeliner. It also has a short tutorial on how to create a perfect winged-tip eyeliner effect.

Hair is devoted to teaching you how to create some of the most popular hairstyles. These include beautiful beach waves, the undone up-do, an at-home blowout, sleek ponytail, and the goddess braid. She also teaches you how to manage your hair and new tricks to avoid irreversible damage.

The third and last section is entitled Lifestyle. Here, Conrad provides helpful hints on how to properly dress for any sort of occasion. The chapters include Work and School, Travel and Events and Parties.

Each section shows you how to make sure that you are always dressed in your best no matter where you go. It even provides a travel checklist so you make sure you take nothing but the essentials when you’re planning on traveling, which is a huge help if you’re like most women, and end up packing more than you need.

“Style” by Lauren Conrad is a must-have for any fashionista even those style seasoned veterans. I strongly suggest you pick up a copy at your nearest book store and immerse yourself in the world of fashion.
